In 1984, the devastating blow of gun violence claimed her son, Edward Cusseaux, when he was just 21 years old. The anguish deepened in 2014, as her daughter, Michelle Cusseaux, fell victim to a horrifying incident involving the police. Michelle, battling mental health issues after the trauma of her brother's murder, tragically became yet another casualty of police violence when she was fatally shot by law enforcement.

Frances has channeled her anguish into a battle cry for change, dedicating her life to reforming laws and raising awareness. Michelle's tragic death occurred just days after the Michael Brown case, but Frances refused to let her daughter's story be overshadowed by a “bigger story”. Her relentless efforts were the sparks that ignited the #SAYHERNAME movement, shining a spotlight on the stories of Black women who have suffered at the hands of police violence.

Frances's advocacy also led to the creation of a mental health intervention task force within the Phoenix Police Department, offering 24/7 support for mental health calls. Despite her tireless efforts, justice remains elusive. The officer responsible for Michelle's death received a minimal punishment, fueling our righteous anger and emphasizing the urgent need for a radical transformation of our criminal justice system.

It's worth noting that entertainers such as Janelle Monȧe, and Teyana Taylor have elevated Michelle's memory through their music and activism. Beyoncé even displayed a wall with the names of people killed by the police during her Formation Tour. Their anger and passion mirror our own, as they demand justice and change.

January 17, 2021 This video was inspired by my great nephew who was born a premature, but beat all odds. He showed us that you can be exceptional no matter your size. You do not have to allow your self to stay in a "box" or conform to stereotypes. Always believe in yourself and be exceptional!

March 11, 2021 I recorded this video while out taking a walk and thinking about 2 important women in my life, my grandmother (Granny) and great aunt (Auntie). I have learned so much from these ladies and I admire them. They allowed me to see what things are possible even if you don't have a mate to help you. They were both homeowners as single or divorced women. Seeing that as a child made me realize that I would be able to have things in life no matter what the circumstances. I appreciate and love Granny and Auntie so much for all of the love they gave me and lessons they taught me!

Kiyana and Aniyah are college students who tell their story of taking college classes at home and the challenges and advantages of doing so. Aniyah is a student parent so she is juggling being a mom and a student trying to get her education in the house with everyone being home at the same time.

These 2 ladies have done such an excellent job adapting to all the changes that have come with not being on campus full time. We recorded this video before the current semester had started. They both feel like so far this semester has been much easier than they expected, which is very good.
